MOOT COURT CAMP
June 27th - July 1st
Have you ever wondered what it feels like to stand alone -
to rely solely on your work, your intellect, your effort, your understanding -
to represent a client, or perhaps the entire country, as you present a case to the justices of the Supreme Court of the United States?
Each year, high school students from across the country gather in Washington D.C. for a single weekend of competition to engage in this very experience.
CITE Moot Court Camp will provide that same opportunity
Whether you are considering the law as a career or you are simply interested in gaining an understanding of the purpose, role, and interaction between our Constitution and the judiciary, students will delve deeply into the life of both a law student and appellate attorney in a challenging environment designed for discovery and learning.
Student attorneys will develop their ability to analyze the law and present compelling arguments, improve their public speaking skills and their ability to think quickly, while learning to adapt arguments and fluidly transition between points by engaging in dialogue with our camp Supreme Court Justices.
Student attorneys will experience:
-Taking a mini-LSAT - the required law school entrance exam
-Taking Socratic mini-law classes on five main areas of study addressed by all law schools
-Walking through a constitutional survey of the preeminent cases defining our judicial system
-Learning the skills of legal research and writing
-Briefing cases and preparing an oral argument
And will have the opportunity to:
Argue before the Bench in a moot court tournament providing an opportunity to use those skills that have been learned and developed.
All in an invigorating but relaxed environment where understanding is the focus and enjoyment the priority.
For those who want to learn about what happens after the trial - for those who seek a better understanding of what it means to "interpret the law" - moot court camp will provide those answers through an intense hands-on experience that you will never forget.
